There’s a whole lot of kissing going on ‘In Good Company,’ starring DENNIS QUAID, TOPHER GRACE, SCARLETT JOHANSSON and “CSI” star MARG HELGENBERGER as Dennis’ wife, Ann.
On tonight’s ET, we have an exclusive look at the comedy and the lip lock a half-dressed Dennis lays on Marg during a surprise party in the film.
“It was fun working with Dennis,” the Emmy-winning actress says. “He is just a great guy. Easy, fun, supportive, generous and very cute, of course, which is the added bonus.”
‘In Good Company,’ opening Wednesday, Dec. 29, is the story of Dan Foreman (Dennis), the head of ad sales for a major magazine, who is demoted and replaced by a kid half his age, Carter Duryea (Topher). Carter, who doesn’t really know what he is doing, wants to make Dan his “wing man,” but Dan isn’t sure there is anything in it for him. Still, the two form an uneasy alliance, and one night, after Carter’s wife of seven months (SELMA BLAIR) throws him out, Dan brings the young executive home for a family dinner.
“I have a line in the script when he comes over and I say, ‘Why is your teenage boss here,'” Marg continues. “Because he looks like he is about 18. He is adorable. He is very talented. He is so facile with dialogue, but there is so much vulnerability. He seems to be with it and witty, but there is so much vulnerability underneath all that.”
The results of the dinner are near disaster, and Dan and Carter’s alliance is threatened when Carter begins an affair with Dan’s 18-year-old daughter Alex (Scarlett). Dan wants to do something to stop the relationship, but the 51-year-old salesman needs his job to pay his daughter’s college tuition, the second mortgage on the house and the doctor bills when Ann tells him she is pregnant.
“Ann really knows how to stretch a dollar and say the right things to her daughter and keep things from her husband because he is overly protective of their daughter,” Marg adds. “He wants to know what is going on with the boyfriends and Ann knows how to be the mediator between the two camps.”
‘In Good Company,’ written and directed by PAUL WEITZ, also stars CLARK GREGG, PHILIP BAKER HALL, DAVID PAYMER, TY BURRELL, NICK SCHUTT and LAUREN TOM.
