MARG THE FAMILY GIRL
Having grown up as part of a close-knit Midwestern family, Marg has worked hard to bring those values that she grew up with into her own home. This task can’t have been an easy one considering that her home is located in Tinseltown, a locale that doesn’t exactly scream family values.
Marg has always managed to keep her focus on her family though, no matter what else is going on in her life. She is still very close to her mother, Kay Helgenberger Snyder; the two have participated in many charity events together to honor Kay being a long-time survivor of breast cancer. And as close as she is to her mom, she tries to maintain the same kind of close relationship with her son by playing a very active role in his life – even if it means making hard choices.
In May 2000, for example, she turned down a lead role in the feature film ‘Stolen Summer.’ She says, “it was a big quandary. I knew it was a good project, but I just couldn’t miss Hughie’s graduation from elementary school, his school play…My life was more important to me.”
Marg’s only child is truly the light of her life. “I feel like half a person when I’m away from him,” she says. Now that does not mean that she has spoiled him rotten. In fact, according to husband, Alan Rosenberg, it’s quite the opposite: “I’m the one saying, ‘Wait until your mother gets home,’” Rosenberg says. “Hugh would be a mess if it weren’t for her.”
Marg and Alan were married in 1989 and have had one of the longest-lasting marriages in Hollywood. Sadly, a spokesperson for the couple announced in December 2008 that Marg and Alan were separating. We at All About Marg have the deepest respect for both of them and wish them nothing but the best.
