MARG ON ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT (TRANSCRIPT)
September 25, 2015
(CSI theme played)
Cameron Mathison: I am going to miss hearing that song. I mean, come on, that meant it was time for CSI. Well, it all comes to an end this Sunday on CBS after fifteen seasons. The whole gang is back for the big finale, including Marg Helgenberger, who stopped by ET to tell me about saying goodbye.
Cameron Mathison: How emotional is it for you to say this final goodbye?
Marg: When it came to this episode — which I didn’t quite anticipate it happening because CSI was going to go on forever, right? But I was happy that they brought me back. The worst emotional moments, in particular, I saw my teammates just gathering up all the evidence of body parts and, you name it, and I was just like moved by that.
Cameron Mathison: This likely, and hopefully, isn’t the last time that you’ll be working with, you know, with William, with others.
Marg: Billy and I did have a wonderful chemistry together and a mutual love and respect for one another. So I hope we get to do that again at some point down the line, and with all the other actors as well. We’ll stay in touch for sure.
Cameron Mathison: Okay, CSI literally reads like a ‘Who’s Who of Hollywood.’ What are some that stand out for you?
Marg: Well, since she just won an Emmy, Viola Davis. And Taraji. Dakota Fanning when she was only 5 years old. And those big blue eyes. Then there’s the whole people in the music industry…Taylor Swift.
Cameron Mathison: Taylor Swift, it was her first acting job, if I’m not mistaken.
Marg: Yes, yes.
Cameron Mathison: Ever, was on CSI?
Marg: Yes, and she was sixteen maybe, I think.
Cameron Mathison: Now, and when Justin Bieber was on the show, he was still in his sort of blond hair.
Marg: He was fifteen, I think.
Cameron Mathison: He was fifteen years old.
Marg: Honestly he was lovely to me. I think some of the crew had some issues with him, but they should talk about that, not me.
Cameron Mathison: You, in a way, take the fans back to the beginning in this finale episode. So what we’re going to do here at ET, we’re going to take you back to the very first time ever on Entertainment Tonight. It was when you were on Ryan’s Hope.
Marg: Oh my god, no way!
Cameron Mathison: In France, at some castle, speaking French.
(Marg covers her mouth and laughs.)
(Clip of Marg from first ET appearance shown)
Marg: Wow! That’s kind of embarrassing. I mean, you know, it is good to get embarrassed from time to time.
Cameron Mathison: And we’ll be watching Sunday night. Sunday night, the 2 hour movie of CSI wraps up at fifteen years.
(Marg makes crying motion)
